Countries and Local Payment Methods

Payment Gateway Africa covers seven African markets through one merchant connection. Each card below shows the country code, local currency and the local methods confirmed for that route, with a link to the full country page.

Seven Markets on a Single Integration

Every market listed here runs on the same African payment gateway setup. You connect once, then request the countries and methods your project needs. The operations available in each market are pay-ins, payouts where available for the method and project, and settlement.

Most routes rely on mobile wallets. For a method-by-method view of how these wallets behave at checkout, see the mobile money payment gateway overview.

Markets are grouped by region below: East Africa (KE, ET), North Africa (EG, TN) and West Africa (SN, ML, GN).

East Africa: Kenya and Ethiopia

KE · KES · Kenya. Method: M-Pesa. M-Pesa is a widely used mobile wallet in Kenya and fits mobile-first checkouts. Full details are on the Kenya payment page.

ET · ETB · Ethiopia. Methods: CBE Birr, M-Pesa (Ethiopia) and local transfers. This route combines wallet and local transfer options for birr collections. Full details are on the Ethiopia payment page.

Terms That Apply Across Every Country

Payment Gateway Africa dispatches merchant settlements on the day of the transaction (T+0). This describes only when funds leave us. Arrival in your account depends on the receiving bank's posting times.

Merchants already working with us can switch on additional supported payment methods without any connection surcharge, and your connection price stays the same however many methods you enable. For existing clients, an already supported method can often be activated within one day.

You can connect through a Hosted Payment Page or a direct H2H API, as described in the integration guide. Payment statuses reach your backend through postbacks and webhooks. Quotes depend on your markets and methods. See how pricing is structured, or open a merchant application when you are ready.
